The Lord has blessed us here at DFBC in so many ways. Psalm 103 provides reminders of God’s gracious dealings with his people. In that Psalm, verse 2 reminds us “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” So we certainly want to take time regularly to thank him for all his many benefits in our lives.
Recently we have shared in witnessing several follow the Lord in believer’s baptism. We will once again have the joyous privilege in seeing another young person on Sunday take this step of obedience. As we remember the Lord’s benefits, let’s also remember to pray for these new followers of Jesus as they are just beginning their journey of faith in Jesus.
Sunday we will begin a new sermon series, Turning Points, a series of messages from 1 Peter. This week’s message is from 1 Peter 1:1-12. Turning Points: Who do you think you are? Belonging and Identity. From Exile to Elect. Have you ever felt like you do not belong? Belonging is one of our most basic needs because we were made for community. In this world we all long to belong. Peter opens his letter to encourage believers to find their ultimate sense of belonging and community in their God-given identity. A believer’s relationship with God is what gives God’s family a sense of belonging even if that causes them to feel like exiles in a foreign land.
I look forward to being with you for Worship on Sunday. See you then!
